Easy there... Uberdata and HONDATA are not even comparable !!! The only thing that Uberdata has in it's favor is the price.
Remember gang: "Good shit ain't cheap, and cheap shit ain't good !!!". You ALWAYS get what you paid for.

without changing the topic of this thread too much, i just want to point out that uberdata is very similar to hondata. it allows you to adjust the fuel and timing maps just like you would in hondata. other than that, they each have their own benefits. unfortunately, using the money i saved by using uberdata on other parts of my car is more appealing to me than...what...auto tuning? not to mention, thats on its way

but I am curious as to how uberdata is free??? I have no knowledge or experience with uberdata, but from what I can tell its simmilar to the Lynux situation. They basically copied windows, and then they give it away. Then whenever you need help or tech support they charge you. and that is how they make money. is this how uberdata works?
so if cheap shit isnt good, that must mean linux suck, huh? if only it were true. so many uneducated statements...it may be time to start a new thread if you guys really want to talk about uberdata vs. hondata.
edit: btw, they dont charge you for tech support...there is a forum full of helpful people open to questions and suggestions on improving it...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well, there is no point in being rude. I was asking a simple question. There were no uneducated statement made. Linux is not by any means superior to windows. Like I said, its a copy, and i believe that if you are going to make a product that already exists, either make it different or make it better. Any loser can copy.Originally posted by keebler65:

how do you make timing and fuel maps "different"?
You have defended points on paper (features)... not the system itself in real-world situations.
Let's talk about a wealth of basemaps tuned nearly perfect to begin with... how about TELEPHONE support available in the event that there is a problem... how about the fact that you must modify your ECU yourself (this alone would eliminate many potential users because they are intimidated by cracking open and performing surgery on their ONLY useable ECU !!!). How about the resolution of your fuel/timing maps... sensor delete options... Nitrous control features... launch control features...
I am not, nor was I ever, insinuating that Uberdata is a useless system. I believe it is a "Diamond in the rough" at this stage. Remember that on paper, the AEM system BLOWS AWAY every other available system currently on the market (with the exception of MoteC maybe), yet, ask ANY tuner which system they find easier to tune on a Honda/Acura platform... almost all will choose the Hondata system over the AEM.
If you take PRICE out of the equation... and just say for sake of argument that the Uberdata costs the SAME as the Hondata system... "WHICH WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE PERSONALLY ?!?" If you answered Hondata, then save your money and make the purchase. All I am saying is don't accept the shortcomings of a substandard product or service just because the price is attractive...
I recently repaired an Accord engine ravaged by HEAT for a woman who is going through a really tough time in her life (her husband has been incarcerated), who much like you, gambled the life of her engine on some FREE labor offered by one of her girlfriend's male counterparts (who claimed to be able to operate a ratchet quite well). All he had to do was replace a thermostat. A generic "Auto Zone" piece was bought, and he put it in improperly. Not only did the thermostat fail to open (the plunger body was too long and it bottomed out in the housing), but he clocked the weep hole in such a way that it could not allow any fluid to pass through and properly heat the thermo switch for the electric fans !!! RESULT: One blown F22B. So, ultimately, she spent $1440.00 just to save the $50.00 (this is what I quoted her for a HONDA thermostat, coolant and labor) that she would have paid me to fix the car properly in the first place !!!
Consider ALL options... and put your ENGINE first !!!
uberdata is a powerful tool in the hands of a professional, or at least somebody with experience.
it should be held for the aem ems-type people, that don't have the cash to buy an actual aem ems.
i say this because, in the long run, just about every standalone is going to come out the same in price--if it's not in the initial unit price, it's in the tuning, or the time wasted.
if you're the type that likes to grab life by the horns, and tune on your own (aem ems type, or uberdata type), then go ahead and try uberdata... then get fed up with it; and i wish you good luck finding a professional that'll touch it.
their forum is about as helpful as pgmfi.org. it's only good if you're an EE major.
or, if you like gambling with your motor and trusting other back-yard mechanics' rom-maps.
and uh... btw... calling linux a copy of windows? that's just wrong, man
Well said Tyler... I am glad you chimed in.
